A Brief History of Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc:

Cabernet Sauvignon: The King of Grapes Cabernet Sauvignon’s history is deeply rooted in the Bordeaux region of France, where it has been cultivated since at least the 17th century. It is believed to have originated from a natural cross between Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc. This accidental breeding resulted in a grape that combined the robust structure of Cabernet Franc with the aromatic intensity of Sauvignon Blanc, creating a new varietal that was well-suited to the climate and soil of Bordeaux.

At Grimm's Bluff, we cultivate this varietal to produce what is truly some of the Best California Cabernet, celebrated for its depth, structure, and complexity. This wine perfectly captures the essence of our organic approach and the robust character of Happy Canyon.

Sauvignon Blanc: Crisp Elegance Historical records suggest that the grape has been cultivated since the 1500s. Sauvignon Blanc, or "wild white," is known for its vigorous growth in its native South West France and its adaptability to diverse climates, including California. Our Sauvignon Blanc vines thrive under the Happy Canyon sun, yielding crisp and aromatic wines. Our commitment to natural farming practices allows the organic vibrancy of the fruit to shine through.
